Summer Civic Internship Program
Summer Civic Internship Program
Our Internship programs were created as an effective means for generating scholarship, service, and collaboration between Wittenberg University and the Springfield community.
Established in 2008, The Susan Hirt Hagen Center for Civic & Urban Engagement is the most visible manifestation of Wittenberg’s commitment to community service, civic engagement and economic partnership with the local and regional community. The Hagen Center ties Wittenberg to the community and the community to Wittenberg through service, internships, research, engaged teaching and learning, and off-campus employment.
The Community Service program provides students with opportunities to serve, to connect with the greater Springfield community, and to reflect on the service experience to better understand themselves, community needs, and their responsibility in advancing the common good.

Community-Engaged Teaching
Faculty members serve as advocates to further the goals of local and global communities and the educational and civic values of Wittenberg University through collaborative research, internships, course related opportunities, and the promotion of civil discourse.
